在DSA, I was given a quality education that pushed me to grow in academics, 职业道德, 还有我的信仰. I felt valued and supported by teachers and staff who recognized my talents and aspirations and generously gave me opportunities to develop as a creative professional.

 

What advice would you give to current high school students?
Keep your family and your faith at the top of your priorities. 永远把工作做到最好. Find something you're passionate about and pursue it with all of your efforts. 保持谦虚. 现在就开始!

What do you appreciate most about your time at DSA?
在DSA, there were teachers who supported me, listened to me, prayed with me. They insisted that if I tried, then I would do something great. I wouldn’t be the same person today without those teachers.

 

What advice would you give to current high school students?
Before you worry so much about your grades, worry about what you’re actually learning. Your grades will get you on the college admissions desks, but when the college reaches out for an interview, 他们会问你学到了什么. And that’s going to be the most important thing when you’re living too. You’re not going to remember that you got an A in Chemistry. 你永远不会记得你的AP得了5分. 因为那并不重要. What’s important is what you’ve actually learned in that Chemistry class, in that AP class. 在DSA, it’s very different in the way that your teachers go that extra mile to take care of you and make sure that you’re not just doing good in school, 但是在学校之外, 我觉得这很好.

 

What advice would you give to current high school students?
学会爱自己. If you don’t have that strong foundation of Christ, that in Christ you’re going to be able to overcome whatever is in front of you, 那你的日子就不好过了. 走出你的舒适区, 与陌生人交谈, 建立这些关系, network with others because it will help you in the long run.

What do you appreciate most about your time at DSA?
It was really cool to be involved of the growth of DSA, because when I graduated at that time we were still developing programs. To get to be involved in that was really cool for me. That’s something that I’ll remember a lot about my time at DSA.

 

What advice would you give to current high school students?
Don’t feel pressured to have your entire future figured out by the time you graduate from high school. There’s a lot of pressure to pick a college and have a career path and have everything figured out, 我感觉到了, but God’s going to guide you and open doors to where he wants you to be, so just pursue your passions and trust that he’s going to take you where you’re supposed to go.

这可能是我大一的全部时间! And not only because it was my first high school year, but also because I had recently moved from Venezuela, and because I got the opportunity to be in the best ELL program with the best people and the best teacher, 夫人. Spiegelberg!

One thing I will always remember about DSA are the kinds of teachers that are there. I got the opportunity to maybe have the coolest teachers. They are people that I am always going to remember.

Being a leader and being involved in high school really helped me understand how to work with people.

 

What advice would you give to current high school students?
主要的事情之一, 当你离开去上大学的时候, 你必须拥有自己的信仰吗...I would definitely advise finding a Bible study group to join. That’s one of the things that personally has helped me a lot. I have some really close friends I was able to meet through that.

Academically, the strongest thing coming from DSA was writing. That made it easy for a lot of the required humanities classes freshman year, or later on taking more technical writing classes.

I would definitely urge students to develop good study skills during this time where classes are small and you have a greater support system. When you start college you might have classes where your entire grade depends on two exams and it becomes overwhelming fast. DSA has so many resources that help and guide you — take advantage!
